Lugol's Iodine Solution - Modified (a.k.a. Dr. Clark's Iodine) 2%, 1 fluid oz. (30 ml)
Dietary Supplement & Food Sanitizer
Ingredients: 1 fluid oz. water, 1.18 gm sodium iodide, 0.59 gm granular iodine (890mcg Iodine in ½ drop). Packed in a clear HDPE bottle, dropper included.
Store at room temperature.

Iodine? That's just for cuts and scrapes, isn't it? No, every cell in the body needs it!
For use as a dietary supplement:
Regular Use - Take up to ½ (one-half) drop per day. Simply put one drop in a glass of water and drink half of it, or take according to the direction of your healthcare professional. Intensive Use - Take up to 12 drops in ½ (one-half) glass water. Do not take this dose on daily basis.
For use as a food sanitizer:
Pour water into a container or sink and add enough Lugol's to give it a golden tint. Completely submerge produce for 1 or more minutes. Agitate food well. Rinsing is optional. DO NOT SAVE THE WATER FOR LATER USE. It will lose its potency.
For use as a hand sanitizer:
Pour water into a cup or bowl, add approximately 4 drops of the 2% Modified Lugol's Iodine and stir. Dip hands into the solution you have just maid and rub hands together. The sanitizing water is only good for a few hours, after that it loses potency.
How much iodine should you take?
You have heard that Coastal Japanese, some of the healthiest people on earth, consume approximately 90 times that much, or 50,000 to 80,000 mcg (50 to 80mg) in their daily diet, which is high in fish and seaweed! So now you should take mega doses also!? Not so fast!
If you are currently iodine deficient you may start experiencing adverse events (hypersensitivity and thyroditis) if you take more than approximately 200mcg to 300mcg per day according to Safety Evidence from CRN Safety Iodine.
Please don’t misunderstand, you can still take the strong healthy dose a Japanese does, you just have to start slowly. Start with 1/8th of a drop per day. How do you do that? Simple: Pour yourself a glass of water, put one drop of Lugol’s in it and drink only 1/8 of the glass (1 sip) toss the rest. Do that for a week and then take ¼ th of a drop, then ½ drop, then 1 drop. Always talk to your Health Professional first.
In addition to talking to your Health Professional we recommend taking the iodine loading test prior to taking larger amounts on regular basis, just in case you are deficient in iodine.
History of Lugol’s and traditional use
Historically speaking, Lugol’s is a solution of Iodine named after the French physician J.G.A. Lugol. Lugol's was first made in 1829. Lugol's Iodine has been used for decades by travelers to foreign lands to wash their fruit and vegetables. When animal refuse is used as fertilizer, or if produce is grown in distant countries where unfamiliar diseases abound, Lugol’s may help.
Note: Lugol’s Iodine can “crawl” out of its bottle even when it is tightly closed! It can stain the sink and counter top. If this happens use Vitamin C immediately to make Lugol’s colorless, then wipe away.
